My California Adventure

If you are here just for the photos scroll on down :)

After seeing some of my photography that I had been posting over the summer during my trip west, many people have reached out to me asking if I had moved out to California. Don't worry, I haven't! But it was an awesome trip and I'm definitely proud of the photographs I took and grateful to those who helped make that trip possible. So before I get into the details I want to thank Matt, Nick, Janet & Jodie for giving me a place to stay and meals to eat. I also want to give a big shout out to my co-pilot and partner in crime, Anna, for coming out on this trip with me.  Traveling west was inspiring. The landscapes of the west and west coast are unlike anything you'd see in Michigan, and left me feeling peaceful, awe-struck, and energized depending on where the shoot was. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE photographing weddings here in Michigan but my goal in planning this trip was to branch out a bit and have a new experience. I wanted to have a bit of adventure; an opportunity to stretch my photography skills and do so in a fresh environment and new terrain I'd never experienced before.  The 2300 mile trek began in San Diego. From there we traveled to Reno, Yosemite, and then returned to San Diego. During that time I photographed five couples, one family, one epic bar party, and my cousin's senior photos. I had the best time touring these new areas and working with these couples and families. It was a lot to plan and shoot in a short amount of time but I had so much fun and the photographs speak for themselves. I also discovered a love for California during this trip. It is such an incredible state. There are so many different landscapes within driving distance; from mountains to the desert to the coast. There was so much to explore and doing these travel shoots has left me with a new enthusiasm towards my work. I can't wait to plan another trip like this and photograph even more. This is an experience I'll never forget. Are you planning a destination wedding or elopement?  I’m willing to travel for your big day! I will be giving amazing deals to the first 5 weddings I book west of the Mississippi. I would love to talk to you about your goals and to be your destination photographer. Let me help you plan some epic photography of you and your love!
